Dialled Bikes Alpine
21 September

Dialled Bikes' prototype Alpine.

The new Dialled Bikes Alpine, tested on proper alp mountains by pack mules.

Dialled Bikes are getting a bit of a rep for making the kinds of frames that people who like to ride, like to ride.

It's more difficult than it sounds. Just look at any Gary Fisher since he invented the toptube. I reckon Mike at Dialled has hit the mark twice already, with the Kobe Ti and the Prince Albert, so it's worth a look at what's up next.

This proto shot is the new Alpine frame, which has been tested in the actual Alps, south of Dover in the nation of Swiss Francetaly by the folks at Trailaddiction, WMB, and also put through the Megavalanche by that hardtail lunatic from Dirt magazine.

It's a more all-rounder-tending-down steel framed affair than the Prince Albert, suiting a real man's fork from 130mm (boo) to 160mm (yay), and sporting slacker geometry, big tyre capability, and lots more standover for less limb tangling potential when you bin it on your local alpine steeps.

It uses a mix of steel tubing types - safe to say it seems to be built tough and light in the right spots.

Just Tell Me When and How Much.

Keep drooling; they're hitting the shops in Spring 2008, but Mike's taking pre-orders for an effectively free price of £300, instead of the slightly less than free £360 that sluggish punters will be paying when they realise it's the weapon of choice, flog that chipped Cove Stiffee foreign riding on ladders alloy rubbish and get on and ride the cold hard steel of home*.

is it available with rack mounts?

Is that a bunker in the picture ?

If so does it have a sliding roof suitable for launching death ray type weapons though ?

Thanks,

DrE.

choppertastic!

Looks good, not sure it'll be the weapon of choice for Leicestershire but good none the less.

another winner Mike.

that looks like it'll ride like a full suss, without having to be a full suss.

fantastic, like being able to eat pies and not get fat.

That bike looks fun. Fancy making a 14" version for me, Mike? ;-)

Come on mudface

Time for a new story on the front page

Posted by: Big chin at September 27, 2007 08:13 PM

Yeah right. I might do a write up about how good it is to be back.

Ah well, at least it's not snowing...

Posted by: Cass at September 27, 2007 08:30 PM

Cass, because of the dropped top tube, the 15.5" frames come up small, so perhaps swing a leg over a 15.5" to see if that fits.

Posted by: Mike at October 2, 2007 01:12 PM

the 15.5" really is VERY tiny Cass... try it !

Posted by: äschchen at October 2, 2007 02:02 PM

But if I try it, and like it, then I'll want to buy one.

How heavy are the frames?

Posted by: Cass at October 3, 2007 10:43 AM

I'm not sure of the weight (never weigh stuff), but my guesstimate is about 0.25-0.5lbs heavier than the current PA (which I think is about 5.25lbs).

Posted by: Mike at October 4, 2007 09:36 AM

What size does the frame come in, because im seriously considering buying this when it come sout.
