Chocolate Log

This from Kieran from our trip to Blandford Freeride Park:

I like cheese and I like biking. If all jumps were made from cheese wedges I'd be in heaven. However we were at Blandford, a heavenly place for freeriding consumption. I was not riding due to a bust wrist but I had come along as Chief Goader for the day and to capture the feast. Seated were Warren (Wa), Tom (Greasemonkey), Dom (Riz) and James (Biscuithead) all looking for a slice of freeride pie.

While the feeders got ready I viewed the new offering "Dirty Bomb' which had finally been finished. How about a small hip to wall ride to start sir? Followed by a tasty 20' step down, served with a sensational 10' booter onto a sweet 6' high table and a delicious 12' drop off? And to finish a skull full of adrenalin for desert? I got all excited and I wasn't even riding.

I hurriedly made my way down to the main fireroad to watch the guys eat up the jumps and booters scattered alongside, only to see a sorry display of first ride nerves. After a touch of Gay Goading™ the next few attempts were better but they were still only nibbling on what was on offer. I was dubious that the big hits were going to be devoured as they headed down the rest of the hill to catch the first uplift of the day in the monster army truck.

We made our way over to "Ladder Ally" arguably the best slice of the hill. Three delicious ladder booters in a row with a few twists, turns and moor hens thrown in to spice things up. Blandford regular Tom tucked in first and slowly one by one each rider tasted the bounty, it seemed they'd forgotten about the uplift as a feeding frenzy started to take hold. Once it was all licked there was time for a few more full runs before stopping for lunch.

Next on the menu the dangerously delicious "Dirty Bomb". This was one serious feast. It was a race between Tom and James on who was going to devour it first. After several run-ins and more goading from myself Tom pipped James to the post and making it look easy. James of course soon followed and it wasn't before long that tweakage was being sprinkled on top for good measure.

Seeing the adrenaline filled faces Warren soon stepped up to sample the delights closely followed by Dom and before you knew it there wasn't a morsel of gappage left. There was time for a few more runs to be sampled on the other side of the hill before everyone had their fill apart from myself, I'd missed out on the food being served. Bollocks! Some pintage and fishy pillows had to suffice.
