Anyone with the slightest interest in getting airborne really should get down to Chicksands (Rowney Warren, near Letchworth).

"But what's there?", I hear you cry.

UPDATED for 2006:

• A smooth, sweet dual course with flowing bermed curves and lovely rollable jumps that tempt you to go bigger and faster with each run
• A challenging 4X track, with a very large triple in the middle for the committed only.
• Three packs of doubles - one small set for fun, and two for the hardcore.
• Two nice drops (5ft ish off a ledge onto a nice downslope, and a ladder drop off that you can go from 7ft to about 16ft depending on balls.
• Lots of wooden north-shore type stunts - including skinny log rides, steps, see-saws, a wallride and a couple of new gaps.

The dual course is such a top way to get a bit of friendly competition going on, and it really improves your riding as you're more concerned with hammering your mates that the fact that you're about to launch 15ft off the next lip, flat out into a berm.
