Freeborn Shore
8 October

Pics and short movie of the new Freeborn ladders at Sandown Park, Esher.

Freeborn Shore Vid

5.6mb AVI DivX

Okay, so it's not exactly Kranked 5, but we enjoyed ourselves. Here's the video codecs if you're only getting sound.

Freeborn Shore, Sandown Park, Esher Wa ridin high Riz taking it steady Riz droppin the planks Wa droppin the planks Wa

It's all rock solidly built with mostly slow speed technical stuff, maybe not up to the level of the deceased Holy Trail, but with some nice touches like the movable transition for a drop off and lots of shortcut skinnys for those who can (no comment).

There's a few easy bits to start off with, but it gets tough very quickly. I'd not ridden much shore stuff before - nothing with proper corners in anyway - so I spent a good couple of hours mastering one corner. Then I binned it from 5ft up. Ouch.

Riz made a better showing, and if Jim's Joker hadn't been nicked from the shop recently I'm sure he'd have shown is how it's really supposed to be done.

More stuff is in the pipeline so it's going to be one densely packed ladder fest.

It's £5 for a full day, less for less. Just go ask in the shop.

Looks good, I want a go.

I'm not into it if it's not all rickety.

I might just havr to go and have a look. So you go to Freeborn shop in Horsham and they'll sort you out. That'll be fun if I go along with my Banshee after the recent slating I gave them.

How busy does it get, say on a weekend, or did you go on a week day?

Are those new forks Wa?

It's Freeborn ESHER, not Horsham. It's round the back of Sandown Park. Shop Tel is 01372 476 969.

There was just me and Riz on Tuesday, reckon it'd be a bit packed on a weekend unless you go early. (Freeriders need their sleep y'see.)

Posted by: jedi at October 9, 2003 10:42 PM

That's a shame as you'll miss me nailing the 25ft to rock garden to sandy chute in style! ;0)

Or is it just a 4fter, I'm no good with distances?

After doing the shore at Freeborn I've got a real taste for it again, so we're going to have to come and visit your stuff soon. I don't suppose there's any chance of going on a weekday is there? If not I'm sure I can sort out a Saturday or summut.

look around leith hill soon and you might be lucky enough to find some hidden away.......

Posted by: Si at October 14, 2003 04:18 PM

Jedi - I'll see what wa's up to and give you a call later.

Si I'm always looking wheverever I go but haven't been lucky enough to find any yet! After the Hidden Sphincter and Holy Trail being knocked down I suppose you've got this stuff pretty well hidden.

How about some cryptic directions, something like "When the moon is full follow the shadow from the ancient broken oak to the valley where the dead dog can't sleep."??? BTW if you do want to give us a hint then it's probably best if you mail.

Posted by: hampstead bandit at December 8, 2003 08:45 PM

i though you got rid of the skyline?

Posted by: tom watling at March 23, 2004 07:25 PM

Er... Read the date!

It has gone, someone spannered themselves on it I think.

Posted by: wa at March 24, 2004 09:56 AM

No we temporarily took it down to re-locate it. We have started work on the new long skinny trail Today which will split and the Skyline will be an option coming off of that.

Robs new stunt which will probably be called Tombstone or similar is awesome - He test rode it earlier Today and landed it smooth as butter...

It's a 10ft ish drop into a large trench then a stepup out >;o)
