Rode one of the best and challenging trails i have ever ridden on the final day in verbier then proceeded to fall off a bridge and into a ravine. (the planked bridge broke :) i did a swallow dive onto some rocks, amazingly managed not to break anything but i did "upset" (the words of the doctor) my spleen, pancreas and liver and had a big yellow belly for a while whilst the internal bruising went down. And as a by product i now get a stitch when ever i ride my bike!?!

Oh and some stitches in my spam and a couple of black eyes.

Everything was cool though as the bottle rocket survived with only a bent brake lever.

A good job, well done. Sounds like a lucky escape. Verbier has more than enough guaranteed-death exposure lines from what I recall.

Well timed too, agreed.

Crashing on the first day is a mugs game.

:?

Especially cracking two ribs and sanding down both shoulders on the first ever day Whistler on a blue run.

Certainly was a lucky escape, i also proved the theory that flapping yours arms like a bird won't make you fly and you will still drop down like a stone!

Verbier has some amazing trails though possibly my favourite type of riding, techy and steep with a bit of FAST thrown in!

Especially cracking two ribs and sanding down both shoulders on the first ever day Whistler on a blue run.

The worst crashes are nearly always on the easiest bits of trail :D

mate of mine knocked himself out on the first jump on lower A-line, first day of the holiday - holiday over = rubbish
then Rog broke his wrist in some shitty slide off a flat piece woodwork on the floor, second day of another holiday - holiday over = rubbish

Rog is the king of taking himself out of action.

I'm not sure I've ever seen him complete a ride alive.

Agreed on Verbier too - I've only done 3 days riding there but it was almost all classic stuff and a huge variety.

Agreed, the best riding I've done was there. Such incredible commit or die trails.

It is Dignitas for adrenaline junkies. :)

Very hard to take photos there though, as you don't often get a chance to stop until the bottom (whether you're still on your bike or not).

Hello,
I'm still riding... upgraded the PA to an Intense 5.5 and did the Avalanche Enduros and a Kona Mashup last year. Got quite a lot of riding in thanks to regular trips away to Wales and the like

Also built some shonky dirt jumps and rode them badly on my Arrow, which I'm now selling to fund a new clutch on my car :x

Still threatening to make it to Canada, but hopefully I can at least get out to the alps this summer
